QUIRK
❛ Phantom Mirror ❜
Junko's quirk, "Phantom Mirror" permits her to create mirrors out of thin air. She also has the ability to enter and exit mirrors, both self-made and premade. However, the interiors of the self-made mirrors are easier to navigate, since she created them. Getting around the worlds of mirrors that already exist is tougher, albeit not impossible.
Junko's mirrors can be used as portals, but beforehand she has to form two mirrors. One in her immediate location, and one in a the location she's trying to get to. However, for this to work, Junko needs to know the approximate distance and direction of the desired location so she can make a mirror there.
Let's say for example, she needs to get from point A (1 kilometers south-east of the Villain League HQ) to HQ. Because she knows that HQ is approximately 1 kilometres south-east, she can fabricate a mirror in the surrounding location of HQ. But she won't have an exact location.
Her mirrors can also act as portals, but any other living organisms besides her cannot travel through.
In combat, her quirk is useful in multiple ways.
❛ GLASS SHOWERS ❜ is an attack style she uses often since it is easy and doesn't drain much. In this technique she sends numerous shards of glass flying at her opponents.
❛ GLASS PUPPETS ❜ is a bit more complicated technique. For this, Junko has to go inside a mirror and remain there.
While in the glass, she can conjure up images of either herself, or of things and people she has studied well. These images can then exit the mirrors and attack her opponents. They do not have any of the quirks of the people they're representing since they're only lifeless puppets, but they can also do shard attacks (though they are less powerful than Junko's own.)
❛ PHANTOM ❜ is her "awakened" quirk (it was awakened during redestro's arc when she had to fight against a rival with a sonic scream). In this, Junko can become 'invisible' by making her body into glass. The way it works is that the glass-form body reflects her environments in a way that makes it look like nothing is there. During this, she attains strength and super speed.
LIMITATIONS
The biggest drawback is the constant bodily strain Junko is under when inside the mirrors. Being inside mirrors feels like she is slowly shattering, and she cannot stay there for too long otherwise she could perish.
Secondly, her glass puppets are not very strong. Hit them too hard and they will shatter, and she cannot produce more than 15 (she can push to 20) at a time. Another thing, the main concept behind creating puppets that resemble other people is to mess with her opponent's minds (emotionally hurt them by making the person they fear or love attack them) or to deceive them (make them think a friend is attacking them). This will not be very useful is Junko hasn't memorized every little detail of the person she is trying to recreate. (If something is off, the enemy could tell it is a clone). To memorize people she needs to study them from every possible angle, and she cannot recreate puppets from just photographs.
Third, if Junko is inside a mirror and it is broken, she will be banished to the hellish worlds of mirrors. It is a traumatic nightmare in there ( a lot like a mirror maze but ten times worse ) and getting out of there can take several hours. If she doesn't find a way out she may perish due to the bodily strain.
Her mirrors cannot withstand strong flames, either.
Junko’s mirrors can withstand fire when it’s not too strong or direct. They weaken and can be melted. When Junko takes on her mirror form (in phtantom) (where a thin yet resilient layer of mirrors is created by her skin and coats her) she is ultra sensitive to heat. Strong flames will shatter the layer and may even scald her.
Phantom also has it's limitations. Junko has to be article-less during her "invisible" mode since only her body will become glass, not her clothes.
Also, if carefully watched, the areas where she stands appear to be anomalous to their surroundings. Think of looking ahead into the distance while driving on a road on an extremely hot day, the streets ahead appear "wet", right? Same thing here, if her opponent is very perceiving they can find Junko's outlines, so she's not entirely invisible.
In her mirror form, she becomes a little heavier and--according to laws of air resistance--faster (her mass has increased and helps her overcome air resistance, thus she is faster than normal).
Since she is heavier she leaves marks if she’s standing on grounds such as sand, snow or mud.
Also, since she is really fast-if Junko wants to run, eventually the speed building up may become too fast for her to regulate, and she may end up colliding with or falling over edges. How will this apply in battle? During battle you have to move fast, and often times stopping for even a moment can give your enemies an upper hand. So either Junko stops and let’s her enemies attacks rain upon her, or she keeps going but spins out of control.
